This was just too good not to share.

Last night a friend and I went for dinner at Kelsey’s.  I parked far from the door where the parking lot was very empty and purposefully took up two spots.  I had just been commenting on Winnipeggers’ lack of parking abilities and figured I would take two spots to make sure no one got too close to my car.  As most of you know, I have an unhealthy affection for my car – a 2007 Ford Mustang.

After dinner, we get back to the car and I notice a note under my windshield wiper. It was soaked due to rain and I saw that it said “f*** off”. I get out, retrieve it, and start howling with laughter.

And now, the note:

There was a time, not long ago, that this would have really upset me. Not now. Honestly, my purposeful parking wasn’t much worse than the way most people lazily park. The fact that someone took the time to write this is hilarious!

It’s got threats – it’s got profanity – what else could you want?

I upgraded my iPhone to OS4 the other day (without drama, thank goodness). Yesterday I noticed a new icon at the top.

I thought, cool! It’s a compass pointing north! Then I realized that, from sitting at my desk at work, it was actually pointing southeast. That was my DUH moment. I realized it’s just the indicated that GPS is on. Then the other DUH moment. My 3G doesn’t have compass abilities.

Oh OS4, you did fool me there. But it’s ok, I’m smart again!

Nuff said

I know, it’s a blog post that’s been seen so many times since Apple announced plans to release the iPhone, what I guess about two years ago now?  Such blog posts have contained hopes, dreams, and really nothing more than rumours.

Perhaps this is just another one, but several reputable news sources here in Canada (including the National Post) have reported that maybe, just MAYBE Steve Jobs of Apple will announce to all of Macworld that Apple and Rogers Communications will have finally struck a deal, bringing the iPhone to Canada.

Being a Rogers customer, who has 1.5 years of a contract under her belt, this is especially good news.  I love my Treo 650, but I’ve dropped it more than once (okay more than 5 times really) not to mention its pretty bulky so I’m ready for a new toy.  I spent the last two months working for Bell (one of three big cellular carriers in Canada).  Lots of cool toys there too, but Bell works on the CDMA network while Rogers is GSM (like the iPhone).

What will happen?  Well the keynote starts in less than 3 hours.  I guess I’ll either be following up with a “SQUEE” post or a “fooled again” post.

Here’s hoping Lyndseo will be holding an iPhone sooner rather than later.

Social media has been around for a while now, but with sites like MySpace and Facebook, we’ve seen a real increase in Web 2.0 in the past 18 months.

Which begs the question – what will the web look like in the next 5-10 years?

Now, think back 5 years.  What were you doing on the web?  Me, I was all about message boards and updating my sites on Geocities.  I think by that time it was Yahoo! Geocities.  But I couldn’t imagine seeing videos and other streaming media becoming a staple on many web pages.  Forms of blogging were around, Live Journal was the big one.  But the word “blog” certainly wasn’t a household name.

When I think about what’s sure to become big in the next 10 years, I automatically go to video.  Of course, video already plays a big role in Web 2.0.  How will we use it in Web 3.0?  Web 4.0?  What kinds of interactivity will we be looking at?

And with the potential for all this new media to develop – how will it influence SEO?

I checked out one of my 2000 Mustang’s site, www.winnipegmustang.com, and I had quite a laugh. You’ll never hear my talking like that – it’s like a whole nother language! Crazy.
